Fix Your Paper Jam Issue in HP Printer With Printer Carryup

Home Printer Technical Support / How to Fix the Paper Jam Issue in HP Printer?

It’s a common occurrence for the printer to stop printing on the pages. It’s fixable. When the signal shows Paper Jam, you need to choose the Clear Jam option and then Press OK or reset the printer by unplugging the power cord from the power source. If these direct fix doesn’t work, here are some other methods below to fix HP printer troubleshooting.

See if there are any paper jammed

Paper jam occurs in many areas in the printer. Check the tray first if there is any jam; if not, check underneath the printer. The next stop is the ink cartridge access area and the front of the printer if you could not find any jam underneath.

After finding the jam and removing it, if the error still displays, you need to proceed to the next step.

See if the carriage is working well

The next step is to see if the carriage is easily sliding across the width of the printer. First, open the cartridge access door, then when the carriage moves to the center, proceed. Keep the printer turned on and then unplug the power cord from the backside of the printer, then proceed to open it from the power source so that you could move the carriage by hand without shocking yourself.

Then check if there is any paper restricting the carriage from moving, remove it. During removing the paper from the rollers, see if there is any tear on the paper. Remove the paper pieces from the wheel and rollers if there is any, and move the carriage by hand. See if it sticks on the right side, then moves it towards the left, and if it sticks in the left side, move it to the right side and if it sticks in the middle, move it to the right side. Make sure it runs freely without any hindrance. Remove any debris if found, then close the cartridge access door.

Plugin the power cord to the power source and the printer, respectively, then turn on the printer. See if it works this time. If the error signal still shows, proceed to the next step.

See if the Paper Feed Roller is clean

Often it’s possible for dust to collect and jam the roller. Clean it by turning off the printer and unplugging the power cord from the external power outlet. Pull up the tray and find the gray pick roller. With a bit damp cotton swab, remove the accumulated dust from the roller by applying a little pressure with fingers in the upward direction. Let the roller dry for fifteen to twenty minutes, then turn on the printer to see if the issue has been fixed.
